I’m Ona Mumtaz,

a UX & Product Strategist who excels in simplifying complex information into intuitive design solutions by aligning business and user needs.

Some of My Previous Work

Ancera Post-Harvest App

The poultry industry’s process for detecting diseases and preventing outbreaks lacks efficiency, often resulting in costly product recalls. Ancera’s Post-Harvest app was created to help Food Industry technicians make high-risk decisions by providing them with the data they need at their fingertips, saving them time and money.

Jiminy Pocket Care

When the COVID pandemic hit and caused lockdowns in 2020, mental health was at an all time low. With formal mental healthcare being near inaccessible, and people craving connection—Jiminy was created as a social mental health app to explore wellness with close family and friends.

Consent Guardians

Music festivals are all the rage—but there is one massive flaw. Harassment is rampant, and festival goers seem to have no education on consent. There is little accountability, and even less prevention. Consent Guardians is an initiative to bring consent education and enforcement to festivals.

Testimonials

  • "Ona is a a [sic] true creative and a great teammate. I worked with Ona on the product team for a year and collaborated with her on many projects. Her ability to listen to understand specific pain points, perform competitive research, and then offer recommendations was impressive. She always brought a positive attitude and cheerfulness to our team."

—Former Colleague on Product Team at Digital Onboarding

  • "I had the pleasure of working with Ona closely over the past couple of years and have seen her grow both professionally and personally during this time. Ona has a natural curiosity, always seeking to clarify the user journey so that she can deliver the best overall experience in her designs. Ona is motivated to continually explore modern and novel techniques through self-learning and application. Although we worked on opposite coasts, her accountability and positive energy yielded a truly collaborative partnership, as if we were in the same building."

—Former Colleague on Product Team at Ancera

  • "Curious. Driven. Talented. Far from just any designer; Ona leads with care, focus, and intention. […] Her curiosity, drive, and talent are at the core of what steers her towards leading with care, focus, and intention. […] Ona's UX Research skills are completely powered by her incredible empathy skills which I saw first-hand through her GA final project as well as a post-GA project that I helped mentor. […] Ona is able to come up with creative solutions based on user needs. She deeply understands how to address user needs and uses research and creativity to make her design decisions; a combination typically difficult to nail. I am confident Ona will make an incredible impact on whatever UX team she is on.

A Little More About Me

After 13 years of design experience spanning print, packaging, branding, and digital media, I now specialize in UX/Product Design & Strategy.

Beyond aesthetics, I help you build trust with your user base. When an experience feels holistic and natural, trust grows—and with trust follows higher retention, lifetime value, and acquisition.

I created my signature C.L.E.A.R. framework for startups or low-UX-maturity orgs who aren’t yet convinced by the formal design-thinking process. Read more about it here.

My Passions & Interests

On the mission-driven side…

I can do it all but I’m most passionate about social impact, humanitarian causes, eco-conservation, animal welfare, education, arts, healthcare, and platforms supporting small businesses /creators.

On the human side…

Off-screen I dabble in photography (it was my degree minor after all), writing poetry, baking (gluten-free specifically), and reading tarot. Yes, I can read your cards. You’re welcome.

FUN FACT: I once had a brief mid-career pivot into the veterinary field when I felt burnt out by design. Shifting from art-centric foundations to hard science was challenging but it gave me newfound confidence. If I can learn quick critical thinking in a high-risk environment, leveraging quantitative and qualitative observations, and complex medical conversions, maybe I can use design to affect real, positive change after all. Plus, now I have hard data proving that dogs love me as much as I love them.
